Gary Means Joins GMP to Lead B2G Strategy Across North America

The GMP family is growing, and we’re excited to welcome another familiar face from the parking industry.

Gary Means, PTMP, joins Get My Parking as Vice President, Business-to-Government (B2G) Solutions, North America. With more than 31 years of experience across public-sector parking, private operations, business development, and industry leadership, Gary brings a perspective shaped by working on both sides of the table.

16 Years, One Parking Authority, and a Lot of Progress

Gary spent 16 years as Executive Director of the Lexington & Fayette County Parking Authority, overseeing garages, on-street parking, enforcement, collections, and a residential permit program. During his time there, the authority increased revenue tenfold while making major improvements across payments, mobile LPR enforcement, permits, signage, garage restoration, pay-station technology, and PARCS.

That’s a lot to fit into one parking career. Luckily for us, Gary wasn’t done yet.

He’s Seen Parking From Both Sides

Earlier in his career, Gary managed a regional portfolio of more than 50 parking facilities, encompassing 10,000 parking spaces and over $5 million in annual revenue. He has also spent years working in municipal and broader parking-industry business development, helping organizations identify operational needs and develop practical solutions. So, when it comes to understanding what happens on both sides of the parking table, Gary brings plenty of firsthand experience.

A Name You May Already Know

Gary’s experience extends beyond running parking operations. He served as Chair of the International Parking & Mobility Institute (IPMI) and spent 11 years on its Board of Directors, also serving as Board Treasurer, Chair-Elect, and Past Chair.

He is also a Parking, Transportation & Mobility Professional (PTMP), an IPMI Accredited Parking Organization Site Reviewer, and a Parksmart Advisor. Safe to say, Gary knows the parking industry pretty well.

So, What’s Gary Doing at GMP?

Gary will lead GMP’s B2G strategy across North America, working with municipalities, transportation agencies, parking authorities, BIDs, and other governmental entities, along with the consulting firms that support them.

His role will span relationship building, solution development, procurement strategy, negotiation, contract execution, and transition to implementation.

“Gary has spent much of his career on the agency side, making those decisions and being accountable for the results,” said Steve Resnick, PTMP, President of Get My Parking. “That perspective gives him immediate credibility with municipal leaders and makes him exceptionally well suited to lead our B2G strategy across North America.”

It’s About More Than the Technology

Gary’s perspective on public-sector technology is refreshingly straightforward.

“For public agencies, technology is not the objective. It is a tool to improve service, make operations more efficient and transparent, protect public resources, and create a better experience for everyone who relies on the system.”

That practical approach is a big part of what makes Gary such a great fit for GMP. We’re excited to welcome Gary to the GMP family and look forward to helping communities across North America modernize their parking and mobility programs through practical, sustainable, AI-driven solutions.
