Parking Should Just Happen: Geremy Rodamer on AI, Innovations, and What Operators Really Want4 min read

Reading Time: 3 minutes

The parking industry is rapidly evolving, and at the center of this transformation is the growing role of data, automation, and artificial intelligence. We sat down with Geremy Rodamer, Vice President of North America at Get My Parking, to talk about what’s next for the industry, what operators are asking for, and how AI is shaping a smoother, smarter experience for everyone.

With over a decade in parking tech and a pulse on what the market truly needs, Geremy brings a refreshingly candid view of how change is unfolding across lots, garages, and municipalities.

Q: How was 2024 for Get My Parking and the parking industry in general

Geremy: 2024 was really interesting. I’ve already seen some incredibly exciting innovations. The best part? A lot of great ideas that were just concepts a few years ago are now real, working products. That’s what excites me—seeing those ideas come to life.

Q: Has anything surprised you about the industry lately

Geremy: I’ve been in parking tech for 12 years, and honestly, I’m still constantly intrigued. What may seem like a simple system on the surface actually involves a lot of complex, behind-the-scenes functionality. The minds working on this stuff? Some of the smartest people I’ve worked with.

Q: How are parkers reacting to the shift toward digital

Geremy: With any technology shift, there’s a learning curve. Education is key to making that transition smoother. For example, clear signage is essential—it prevents confusion and operational issues. People are quick to adapt when the transition is made seamless, and that’s something we work hard to ensure.

Q: What are parking operators most focused on right now?

Geremy: Many operators are asking, “What’s next?” They want to move beyond traditional systems, and they’re motivated by customer experience. As property owners and management companies become more aware of their environment, they have more influence over the type of experience they want for their parkers. Parking should be invisible—a good experience is one you don’t even notice or remembers. But if it goes wrong? Everyone remembers that. Operators are looking for stability, simplicity, and cost-effective solutions that work with fewer hands on deck.

Q: Are operators still hesitant about going digital?

Geremy: Change is always uncomfortable. But growth happens outside of your comfort zone. My advice? Try something new. Be open to directions you haven’t considered. The best moves in life often come from that leap of faith—and with the right tech partner, it pays off.

Q: Let’s talk about AI. How is it changing parking?

Geremy:  AI is definitely one of the hottest topics right now—and for good reason. It’s quite the gamechanger, giving operators real-time insights, so they can make smarter decisions about everything from pricing to staffing to customer support. And the best part is, AI can handle tasks at a scale and accuracy that humans just can’t match. For example, with AI, we can factor in things like misreads from tires, bike racks, snow, or dust, which can mess with parking rate calculations. It also helps decide when to open or close gates, or even manage gateless environments smoothly. Our homegrown GMP AI really shines by helping us match permits, validations, and reservations, all while reducing friction for the customer. It just makes enforcement and management that much easier. It’s one of those tools that, when used right, can make everything run a lot more smoothly and efficiently.

Q: Any bold predictions for 2025?

Geremy: I think 2025 is the year when adoption goes mainstream. Operators won’t just explore tech—they’ll embrace it. And here’s my bold take: Get My Parking will become one of the largest tech providers in the U.S. We already have a strong presence globally, and with our flexible, white-labeled platform, we’re in a unique position to scale fast, without being flashy.

Q: Beyond ExpressLane, what other kinds of tech are operators exploring?

Geremy: It varies. Some want tools for monthly parking, others want data insights, or even ad-based engagement on-site. What sets Get My Parking apart is that we’re not just offering a single product—we’re offering a platform that adapts to multiple use cases. Owners, municipalities, universities—they’re all looking for holistic, future-proof solutions, not just one-off tools.

Geremy’s insights are clear: the future of parking is smart, stable, and seamless. Operators no longer want band-aid fixes—they want partners who help them grow with confidence.
